East Riding Youth Dance began in September 2005 to provide new opportunities in dance for young people aged 14 - 18 years within the East Riding of Yorkshire. September 2007 introduced regular classes for 11 - 13 year olds, doubling the number of community youth dance groups within the area.
There are now 12 community groups taking place in Beverley, Bridlington, Goole, Hessle, Hornsea and Pocklington.
East Riding Youth Dance County Company, is an exclusive company for exceptionally talented dancers aged 14 - 18 years. Auditions are held once a year for anyone who is interested in becoming involved with the company.
The East Riding Youth Dance Project is funded by Arts Council England, East Riding of Yorkshire Council and is coordinated by June Mitchell, East Riding of Yorkshire Council.
Membership is £30 per term,
£90 for the year.
